| Ok. I'm a bit nervous and excited, because I promised to make a feature and an interview of ms. Bujold for the biggest genre magazine in Finland, Tähtivaeltaja. You can tell, because it is not even March yet and I'm already trying to get some ground work done.
I would be really grateful, if you could give me links to good Bujold interviews / reviews / any other insights to her work. I don't want to ask the same questions that have already been answered thousand times, but something more original. And not only about the Vorkosigan verse. So both links and questions are welcome! If I ask your question, I'll let you know the answer... | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |

About a year ago I'd heard that a graphic novel version of "The Warrior's Apprentice" was being published in France. I haven't been able to track it down to buy it (yet) but I had requested it from the public library, and with uncanny timing, it arrived last week. Uncanny timing because we're starting an official read of it on one of the Dunnett lists next week.
So I read it this morning. Great fun. Presumably they are doing the whole Miles series - the overall title is "La Saga Vorkosigan" and this is vol. 1, "L'apprentissage du Guerrier". Because of the title I expected it to be an adaptation of the whole novel, but no. It's only the first half of "The Warrior's Apprentice", and a little bit from later on, because it actually starts with the climax - and then goes back to the beginning as a flashback. Very suitable, actually.
I'll put links to the pictures under a tag.

| Lois posted her con schedule to her facebook. As of now:
Minicon 47, Bloomington, MN; 6-8 April 2012
DeepSouthCon 50, Huntsville, AL; 15-17 June 2012
Finncon, Tampere, Finland; 20-22 July 2012
Anyone headed to any of these? I might go to Minicon, have to see if I can get a babysitter. If the kiddo was a little older I'd bring him. Oh well, one day he will be! | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

The Meta Month of March is a month-long meta fest for all kinds of meta - general discussion about fandom, writing, vidding, etc. as well as fandom-specific meta. We're looking forward to a (hopefully) great variety of meta topics and a lot of discussion, and we'd love some Bujold meta in the mix! :)
In the second half of February, you can sign up with a topic you want to write about, and a day in March when you'd like to post it. (There's a post for requesting and suggesting meta topics if you need inspiration!) You can find the full rules here.
Sign-ups are open now on LJ and on DW.
The fest is run through month_of_meta and month_of_meta! | comments: Leave a comment |
| | In the Vorkosigan series, what is the thing called in which they burn a little of their hair when they've lost a friend or loved one? And are there any pictures of them anywhere? | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

| | Do the Vorkosigan series of books have a physical description of Byerly Vorrutier (sp?) anywhere? I tried to look for it, and was sadly unsuccessful. | comments: 12 comments or Leave a comment |

I can't go as I have a newborn but if anyone is able to go I'd love to know if she reads from the Ivan book! If anyone does go could you possibly report back to the comm? | comments: Leave a comment |
| Do you guys remember this post? Well clearly you guys responded! The Vorkosigan series has been added as a new fandom at ficfinishing!
What does this mean? If you write Vorkosigan fic and you currently have something sitting unfinished on your computer, dust it off and get ready to finish it! This comm has helped me finish chapters and entire fics so I really recommend it. The Techniques Posts they have offer so much excellent advice to get you un-stuck, and there is a lot of lovely cheer-leading between participants as well.
If you are a reader, you can help as well! You know that cheer-leading I mentioned? Loads of it comes from readers just like you! You can be what is called a First Reader. It's not a Beta Reader-- you aren't expected to edit the fic, just to encourage the author. Check out ficfirstreaders if this sounds like the perfect job for you. New fandoms always have trouble finding readers, but how could you not want to get a first peek at some awesome Vorkosigan fanfic?
And when you do finish your fic, you can share it here at lmbujold as well. The community has been too silent :( | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Hey guys! ficfinishing is a community that aims at encouraging fanfic writers to finish what they start (a problem I know I have in abundance). Each month a couple fandoms are added to the growing list of accepted fandoms there. I just now noticed that both the Vorkosiverse and Chalion-verse have been nominated, though they have very few votes.
If you have fic you need to finish but are lacking motivation, or if you are willing to sign up to be a cheerleader for struggling Bujoldian writers, please consider voting for our beloved fandoms. All you have to do is comment with the names of the fandoms you'd like to see added and your vote will be counted. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
